THE STORY
I was listening to “Heroin” by The Velvet Underground the other day, and I found myself thinking about the lives lost and the people I’ve known whose lives were consumed by addiction. Lives disrupted. Families devastated. Dreams put on hold or lost altogether. Addiction is a devastating disease, and recovery can be an incredibly difficult and lifelong journey. There is so much loss and pain surrounding it, but also the possibility of healing, redemption, and change. That reflection inspired me to create this piece , a meditation on addiction, its destruction, and the darkness it can bring into people’s lives.
