For David Schure, being an artist is not about disappearing behind the work. The artist, the story and the experience are connected.
His work grows from observation, memory, history, culture and the questions that stay with him. A finished drawing may be the object on the wall, but it is only one part of a larger conversation.
Schure is building his career outside the conventional path of waiting for the art world to define him. He is creating a direct relationship with the people who encounter his work—through the art, the stories behind it, the studio, conversation and public presence.
The goal is not simply to be seen. It is to create work—and a body of stories around that work—that people remember.
